sonicpatronus asked: So a lot of people have asked you about the appearance of the Abrahamic God in American Gods—is it the prison warden?

neil-gaiman:

I was brought up to believe that the God of Abraham was invisible, insubstantial and beyond all understanding, and revealed himself through his works. Would he really look like a prison warden? And why do people grumble about not seeing him in American Gods?

(Probably for the same reason that they think that, if he exists, he supports the same sports team that they do, which is weird, because the only sport that God actually cares about is pétanque. Honest.)

Speaking as a functional atheist (I’m technically a Discordian, but.), I think God is a pretty cool guy. Kinda like Neil Gaiman, but for different reasons. Anyway, this post made me look up pétanque, which was fun.
