If I recall correctly, Kuramochi no Miko was tasked with getting the Jewelled Branch of Hourai, and “trying so hard” consisted of getting these craftsmen to create a fake one, which actually fooled Kaguya herself until the craftsmen burst in and demanded to be paid for their hard work. After she kicked him out, he murdered them.
Just sayin’.
